 The essence of massage

Massage is a complementary therapy with a relaxing effect on both the body and the mind.

Massage might be the most ancient form of medical care. This has been demonstrated in the early ages by egyptian tomb paintings. Later much emphasis has been laid on massages in the eastern cultures. Ambroise Pare, a 16th-century physician to the French court, emphasized on massage being a treatment for various illnesses. Swedish massage, most common to Westerners, has taken an emergence in the 19th century.

Massage lost some of its valuable aspect with the nasty image projected by "massage parlors." However, with the sensitization of the essence of massage and its therapeutic properties, this nasty image is vanishing.

A variety of massage techniques have also been integrated in several other harmonizing therapies, such as aromatherapy, reflexology and ayurveda.

Aromatherapy Massage

It is a combination of massage with essential oils and other specific massage techniques to uphold a good health and well being.

Reflexology

It is the use of thumb and finger pressure on the reflex points of the feet to help in attaining equilibrium within the body.

Ayurveda

It is the traditional indian method of medical treatment, It emphasizes on the therapeutic benefits of massage with aromatic oils and spices. It is practiced extensively in India.
